The Dropdown filter is a dropdown list of values you can search from and select to filter your data.
The dropdown filter can be found underneath the ‘Filters’ section. You can add it to the editor by clicking on it or by drag and drop. There is one data slot to add data to - ‘Dimension’.
A column with any data type would work for this slot.
Data, added to the slot, will be displayed as a sorted list. In the chart settings you can change between sorting ascending or descending. You can select one (or many) values and the rest of the dashboard will be filtered accordingly.
In the chart settings there is a possibility to turn on Label. By default it will use the column name.
In case you have a long list of values enabling the Search option would be handy.
Also Multiselect is available, so you can choose several values as a filter. When enabled, a few more options pop-up:
If you want to reset the filter simply click 'Clear all' button at the bottom of the dropdown allows removing all selected items at once.
Text used for the placeholder is customizable as well. By default it’s set up to ‘Select…’.
You can also enable a filter initialization. As such the initialized filter will be applied immediately when opening the dashboards next time.
Columns from multiple datasets can be added to the same dropdown filter in the 'Dimension' slot. This can allow you to filter multiple datasets to the same value(s), even if they are not linked together.
