Bar and column charts are used to compare a variable among different groups, but sometimes you may wish to measure multiple variables in one chart.

  • In the tutorial below, we have a simple bar chart that compares the total profit of three different drink sales categories, with the Revenue as the Measure at the bottom and the Category as the Category on the left.
  • However, by itself, the Revenue does not give much actionable information that can be used for business decisions - how much does the business earn after deducting all its costs? Therefore, we add a second Measure which is the Profit to the bar chart as well.
  • You can continue adding more variables to the Measure to compare factors like costs of items sold or taxation as well to determine which factor has the biggest impact on the bottomline.
