Custom tooltip

With the custom tooltip, your users will benefit from extra information and insights you are exposing in your platform.

This powerful feature allows you to fully customize the tooltip, which is shown when hovering over the charts. You can easily adapt the content and the formatting to the needs of your end users.

The tooltip appears when hovering over a graph, informing your end users of the content of a specific data point. Before changing anything, the content is automatically created. By customizing this tooltip, you can go a step further and get more value out of it for your end users.

After adding data to the graph, you can navigate to the interactivity section in the chart settings. A modal opens after toggling on the ‘Custom tooltip’ option. The white canvas in the middle of the modal is your playground. Here, you can customize the tooltip as desired by making use of:

• HTML
• CSS
• Dynamic text elements which are based on the slot values. These are the orange fields below the canvas, which you can easily drag and drop
• Other columns that are not being used in the graph can also be added by simply clicking the '+Add column', and selecting your desired column and appropriate aggregation type. This Academy article contains more information about the different aggregation types per column type, and which results to expect.

The format of the numeric values can be adapted via the little gear icon left from the column name. Also the aggregation can be changed from sum to e.g. average. Once you are done you can click on ‘save’ and the custom tooltip will be visible right away.
