While creating dashboards, you are able to use multiple charts. The colors in the different charts are part of the chosen theme. While using multiple charts, the same item could be displayed with multiple colors. The consequence can be that the dashboard is inconsistent. As such, it fails to achieve its objectives. It does not deliver all the information in one clear overview and can cause confusion.

To solve this it is possible to set consistent colors for each element. As such, it is easier to have a clear overview.

To set up consistent colors, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the settings icon of the variable in the dataset editor view and choose ‘Edit hierarchy’.
  2. Click on the round icon next to an element, for example ‘Germany’. A popup modal will open and give you the option to choose any color.
  3. After defining a consistent color for your element you can go back to your dashboard.

The dashboard will be adjusted as such that every element with a predefined color will show up in that color consistently across the dashboard.
